The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating whether the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) engages in a pattern or practice of:
- using excessive force, including uses of force against individuals engaged in First Amendment activities
- discriminating against people (including on the basis of race, gender, or disability)
- or conducting unreasonable stops, searches, seizures, and arrests, both during patrol activities and in obtaining and executing search warrants for private homes.
